This beautiful family welcomed home baby number five and asked little ol’ me, as a premier Oconomowoc newborn photographer, to capture all the details of this exciting time. They very recently moved to the area into a stunning brick colonial with so much farmhouse charm. I’m talkin’ reclaimed brick walls and barnwood beams but updated all throughout in the best way. I just loved every detail! They asked me to photograph their brand new baby girl in front of one of their sliding barnwood doors in their master bedroom.

Um, pinch me because I must be dreaming.

Not only was I awe-struck by the beauty of their home but more importantly they made me feel right at home with their friendly and welcoming demeanor. I knew I’d love this family from the very first time I talked to this mom on the phone. She called for a newborn session but we ended up talking about so much more! She mentioned how they never had newborn pictures taken for any of her other four children and it was one of her biggest regrets.

So many times I hear parents say, “We can’t do that because we never did it for the other children” and that is so sad to me.

Welcoming a new baby home is an opportunity to tell the whole family’s story.

The siblings get photographed with the baby and family too! It’s a perfect opportunity to make them feel special while celebrating this beautiful new life. I’m so glad this momma understood that and pushed past those feelings of regret to seize this moment.

During our initial conversation mom mentioned that her new baby looked just like a little “monchichi.” Remember those popular little monkey dolls from the 70s? They’re still around! During the session one of baby’s older siblings brought me one and I thought, why not? Let’s get a picture of baby with the monchichi! It turned out so cute!

This little sweetheart slept like an angel through the entire session. She was an absolute dream to photograph and I love every image from their session.
